Sessions

  • This session is for facilitators, managers, and team leaders who guide group discussions through meetings, processes, or dialogues. While we may be trained in tools and structures as process facilitators, the real challenges often lie beneath the surface—power dynamics, emotional safety, and group dynamics.

Not all methods carry a group equally. Some, like Open Space Technology, are elegantly self-holding. Others require us to stay sharply attuned to what is unspoken.

In this session, we’ll explore what it means to go beyond neutrality and notice the hidden forces that shape group outcomes. You’ll learn to:

    • Distinguish between task and maintenance processes, and their impact on flow and cohesion

    • Recognise how power can emerge and shift during facilitation

    • Reflect on subtle group dynamics that often influence session success

This is an experiential session—come ready to participate.

    Facilitator:

Lye Yen Kai has been a Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) since 2015. He supported the IAF Asia Conference in Singapore as Operations Manager and later served as Head of Professional Development for the local chapter. He brings extensive experience applying process facilitation to public engagement, strategic planning, focus groups, and large-group work.

In 2019, he expanded into Organisation Development to create longer-term impact, completing the Organisation Development Certificate Programme (ODCP) with NTL and the International Gestalt Organisation & Leadership Development (iGOLD, USA) programme.

  • Go ahead, look up the World Economic Forum’s list of 2030 Core Skills? Surprise! While tech skills, such as AI and cybersecurity, are set to increase in importance, human-oriented ones, including leadership and social influence, talent management, creativity, and lifelong learning, will also increase in demand and relevance.

Why is this so? Because in the age of tech abundance, your competitive differentiator is not access to cheap and commoditised technologies, such as genAI or quantum computing. Rather, your critical edge will be your ability to engage others, and harness creativity and innovation from your most valuable yet unpredictable asset: Natural Intelligence.

That is, the collective knowledge, deep wisdom and mercurial resilience of people you work with. And the enabler? Your facilitative leadership skills!

In this experiential session, discover the attitude, mindset and facilitative leadership methods & tools you’ll need to unlock deep workplace collaboration, inspire collective intelligence and create breakthrough innovation!

    Facilitator:

Isman Tanuri is the author of The FAVE Leadership Program. Through the Facilitative Leadership practice system, leaders enhance the quality of human connections and interactions in the workplace, and contribute to collective learning, collaborative work culture, and alignment to purpose and shared outcomes.

His leadership advisory and facilitation work have impacted leaders in organisations around the world, including Amnesty International, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Roche, Godrej, PETRONAS, EssilorLuxotica, MTN Group South Africa amongst others.

A Strathclyde MBA, Isman was Associate Leadership Consulting Director at BTS APAC. Earlier, he held marketing leadership roles in innovative ad-technology firms, MediaMath Inc. and Tapad-Telenor.

  • 4D Mapping integrates systems mapping with Social Presencing Theater (SPT), harnessing embodied creativity and collective wisdom. The method explores the underlying dynamics that keep social systems stuck and identifies key leverage points for system transformation and evolution.

    Facilitators:

Boon Pei Ya is a systems change strategist and founder of The Shoal Co., where she supports funders and impact organizations working at the intersection of nature positivity, climate action, and social justice. With 16+ years of cross-sector experience, she blends strategy with soul—grounded in the belief that shifting from ego to eco begins with inner transformation. Her work draws on systems thinking, systems mapping and social arts to map complexity, surface dynamics, and co-create adaptive strategies, enabling organisations to build shared understanding and navigate change in ways that are inclusive, grounded, and responsive to real-world challenges.

Michael Ong is a coach, facilitator, and game designer who helps people and teams grow through complexity. As founder of The Collab Folks and trainer with SoftEd, he supports product teams in building clarity, collaboration, and adaptive leadership. He is also the creator of Cowtopia, a playful simulation on teamwork in chaotic systems. Michael hosts communities like Product Tonic, Satir Circle, and Social Presencing Theatre Singapore. Rooted in the Satir Model and systems thinking, his work blends presence, play, and purpose—guided by the belief that when we breathe into chaos, we uncover who we’re meant to become.

Veronica Yow is the Impact Lead of Aspen Impact Foundation. She brings over 15 years of experience in corporate responsibility, international development, and impact investing, collaborating with smallholder farmers and small-scale fishers from Latin America to Asia to adopt sustainable practices. Her unique approach to change-making integrates diverse forms of capital and behavior change strategies, aimed at cultivating resilient communities and economies that are local, regenerative, and equitable within biodiverse landscapes. By applying a systems lens, Veronica seeks to drive meaningful change that occurs across multiple levels and beyond traditional silos.

  • This workshop brings facilitation into action by equipping facilitators with practical tools, techniques, and a mindset to embed psychological safety and team resilience into real team behaviours. Moving beyond theory, the session focuses on how facilitators can design and lead experiences that help teams become more adaptive, connected, and high-performing in times of change.

    Facilitator:

Tham Chien Ping is an IAF Certified Professional Facilitator and an experienced HR and L&OD Practitioner and Consultant, specialising in helping teams build resilience and adaptability. Drawing on the research of Dr Amy Edmondson, CP equips facilitators and leaders with practical techniques to embed psychological safety into team dynamics. With extensive experience working with diverse organisations across Asia, he designs and leads workshops that translate theory into real behavioural shifts. CP is passionate about enabling teams to thrive in disruption by fostering trust, learning, and collective accountability. His facilitation approach empowers participants to move beyond conversations towards creating resilient, high-performing team cultures.

  • Transitioning into a new role – whether through an internal move, a promotion, or joining a new organisation – can be challenging and stressful. Traditional support structures like orientation programs and buddy systems are valuable, but they often fall short of addressing the real-world complexities of a transition: understanding culture, managing expectations, avoiding common transition traps, building critical relationships, and delivering results in a new environment.

This session introduces practical facilitative techniques that you can use to support yourself – and others – through role transitions. You will learn how to apply simple yet powerful frameworks, ask better questions, and guide meaningful conversations that reduce uncertainty, build momentum, and lay the foundation for early success.

Equip yourself with the tools to navigate transitions with greater confidence — and help those around you Begin Well too.

  • A personal story of growth, uncertainty, and unexpected opportunity

For more than 10 years, I worked hard to establish myself as a learning and development professional, the go-to in the organisation for talent and skills development.   Then I was posted to a Project Management Office (PMO) as part of a career development plan. It did not turn out as planned.  It was a career low point but on hindsight, it was a blessing in disguise.

For one, I discovered IAF Singapore chapter which promotes facilitation skills.  I discovered a completely new way of contributing: not by being the subject-matter expert, but by helping teams align, navigate complexity, and find clarity together.

In this session I’ll share how I made the leap from feeling uncertain to finding a new professional identity rooted in facilitation.  You’ll also be introduced to the IAF Core Competencies, a global benchmark for facilitation practice.  Whether you're in IT, HR, Finance, Sales, or a business leader, facilitation is more than a method — it's a mindset. And once you learn the craft, it opens doors to roles you may not have imagined for yourself.

    Facilitator:

Angeline Tan helps organisations with people & leadership development, crafts communications to make sense of organisational changes, and develops the desired culture for the teams. She had a brief stint in a programme management office (PMO) as part of her career exposure in the retail, healthcare, education, and management consulting sectors and the public sector. She is a certified Soundwave® & Emergenetics® coach, a Prosci ADKAR® change associate, and a Peter Senge’s Learning Organisation practitioner. She is an Endorsed® Facilitator with the International Association of Facilitators and is the current President of IAF Singapore helping to promote the power of facilitation in the community.

  • It's never easy for an organization to adopt a new policy or regulation from the government or even the United Nations, and this is something that is demonstrated by the fact that many organizations are reluctant to do so. In particular, the SDGs or ESG are not on the radar or in the minds of employees, but the SDGs or ESG can't be achieved without their involvement and collective action. More dialogue and communication is needed to create a new mindset before the world is changed and different actions are taken by them.

In this session, we will experience how we create our world and how we can act differently to change it through the experience of the 2030 SDGs Game. As a certified facilitator and trainer of 2030 SDGs Game, Jackie has facilitated over 380 game workshops since 2019. Participants share common goals and values for the further implementation of the SDGs and ESG during the board game workshop. During the game, each person reconstructs their understanding of the world, their perspective, and their view of the SDGs through observation, interaction, and reflection. This creates new understandings and empowers action. If you are still wondering how you can contribute to the global community as an individual or as a facilitator, we hope this session will help you experience the transformation process and stimulate new perceptions of future actions after the game workshop.

    Facilitator:

Jackie Chang is a Certified Professional Facilitator Master (CPFM) and an assessor for the International Association of Facilitators (IAF). She is also the Deputy Executive Officer and Core Facilitator of the C.P. Yen Foundation.

Prior to obtaining her CPF status, Jackie accrued more than 17 years' experience working in public relations.

Jackie has 21 years of experience in facilitation. She applies a variety of methodologies, such as Focus Conversation (ORID), Technology of Participatory (ToP), Appreciative Inquiry (AI), Open Space Technology (OST), Theory U, Dialogue and World Café, to catalyse organisational change. She also provides clients with facilitation training as required. She also applies facilitation skills to curriculum design and teaching.

Jackie holds a Master's degree in Multicultural Education from National Dong Hwa University and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Education (Teaching and Curriculum Design Group) at NDHU. The title of her master's thesis is 'An Action Research on Learning Nonviolent Communication by Rural Adolescents for Emotional Awareness and Interpersonal Communication Skills'. Since 2019, she has focused on applying facilitation to the SDGs to transform personal and organizational awareness and actions towards the global goals.

Jackie and her team provided a facilitation training program for the Taiwan Active Aging Association and won a Gold Medal at the IAF 2016 Facilitation Impact Awards.

  • Flex your thinking. Build stronger ideas. No sweatbands required— just reps of curiosity.

In a world full of challenges and change, the questions we ask can make all the difference. This lively, hands-on session will show you how asking the right questions can spark new ideas, build stronger connections, and inspire real action.

You’ll learn practical tools and an easy-to-use process for leading thoughtful conversations— whether you’re guiding a team through change, working with your community, or simply wanting deeper everyday connections.

In this session, you’ll pick up an inquiry-based toolkit to help you create conversations that encourage empathy, learning, and fresh thinking. You’ll also build stronger facilitation habits, moving away from needing to have all the answers toward asking powerful, purposeful questions.

This session is for anyone who leads, supports, or connects with others—and wants to bring more hope, understanding, and positive change into their conversations.

    Facilitators:

Yeo Eng Hou (IAF CPF), Grace Tan (IAF CPFM) & William Chew (IAF CPF).

This session is led by a team of three seasoned IAF certified professional facilitators, bringing together over 60 years of combined experience across both the private and public sectors.

Collectively, Eng Hou, Grace and William offer unique perspectives, deep expertise, and a shared passion for creating spaces where meaningful dialogue sparks real impact.

With strong track records in designing and delivering transformative group processes across diverse industries and communities, they bring a dynamic blend of insight, presence, and practice—ensuring a rich and engaging learning experience for participants from all walks of life.

  • In complex conversations, true insight often lies beneath the surface — in emotional tone, repeating loops, silences, and energetic shifts that reveal how a group is thinking together. This session invites facilitators to move beyond quick fixes and explore the art of pattern detection, inspired by Human Systems Dynamics (HSD) and experiential learning.

Instead of diagnosing or directing, you’ll learn to see, name, and hold patterns that guide groups toward clarity, connection, and shared sense-making. Ideal for those in leadership, education, Organisation Development, or social change, this workshop supports deeper presence and insight in your practice.

    You’ll learn:

    1. How to spot verbal, non-verbal, and energetic patterns in group conversations;

    2. The CDE Model (Containers, Differences, Exchanges) for understanding complexity;

    3. Practice in real-time pattern sensing and reflection; and

    4. How to use powerful questions to deepen and shift conversations.

  • This session invites facilitators, change agents and organisation leaders to explore the use of systems awareness and systems thinking in seeing, sensing and mapping real-world issues. to move beyond isolated issues and analysis to address interconnected root causes and map systems-level perspective. Participants will gain fundamental understanding and application of systems-based habits/ practices/ moves (e.g. Distinction-Systems-Relationship-Perspective and Bar-Bell respectively) to identify patterns and underlying beliefs to help them and others gain a systems-view of the situation.

He uses facilitation to foster generative conversations and coaching to enable teams to build resilience and collaboration. In his OD practices, he is adept in systems awareness and systems thinking interventions to reframe perspectives and transcend numerous teams in Middle East, East Asia and South-East Asia countries.

  • Conflict, like fire, can burn or illuminate. This experiential session explores conflict as a powerful force — one that, when skilfully tended, can spark transformation, deepen relationships, and foster sustainable change.

Facilitators are increasingly called to guide groups through tension and uncertainty. Rather than avoid conflict, this session invites a shift: to engage it with intention, presence, and care. Using fire as metaphor, we explore how conflict shows up — and how facilitators can “tend the heat” with greater awareness and purpose.

Participants will be introduced to dialogic practice that supports grounded, courageous facilitation during intense moments. Through storytelling, reflection, and experiential learning, we surface lessons from real-life “heat moments” and explore what’s needed to create transformative containers for conflict.

We end with a reflective inquiry into what it means to be a fire tender — one who nurtures dialogue and helps groups move from rupture to resilience.

  • SDG goals have been a critical way for everyone to tackle and mitigate the impacts of climate change.  Unfortunately, the objectives of SDG have not impacted enough, and global targets are behind.  Many organizations, individuals, teams, leaders, are all struggling to truly create a culture of sustainability that goes beyond transactional activities.  As a result, the IDGs have emerged. The IDGs are enablers to help transform the SDGs into sustainable impact.

This session helps facilitators, and anyone involved in sustainability efforts with the process and skills to enable groups to move more concretely towards implementing SDG goals.
